The fashion industry has a large carbon footprint

When it comes to fashion, the numbers are staggering, the fashion industry produces 10% of all humanity’s carbon emissions, is the second largest consumer of the world’s water supply and pollutes the oceans with microplastics. Consumers are buying more clothes, on average, 60% more garments in 2014 than in 2000. But the clothing is cheap and, because it’s not recyclable, 85% of all textiles go to the landfill each year. Reduce your footprint by buying fewer clothes, repairing what you have, buying secondhand and when you do buy new, make sure they’re high quality.
