Opossums are tick vaccums
Opossums may be kind of creepy looking marsupial but they are hard working critters. Opossums are walking tick vacuums. The creatures are very good groomers and kill more than 95% of the ticks that try to feed on them. As a matter of fact, one opossum can consume between 5500 and 6,000 ticks per week. There are a lot of misperceptions about opossums. When left alone, they don’t attack pets or other wildlife, and they’re eight times less likely to be carrying rabies than feral dogs. So next time you see an opossum, don’t scare them away or discourage them.\
