CA new rules on water conservation and water-efficiency

California’s governor just signed a new law focused on water conservation and water-efficiency. The rules are controversial and are targeted at water districts to cut per capita water usage. In 2022, the indoor water standard will be 55 gallons per person, per day. By 2030, it will fall to 50 gallons. Homes are being retrofitted with new water-efficient fixtures that will help cut back.  The new laws also require water districts to curb water loss due to leaks. It’s estimated that 30% of urban water is lost to leaks in the system. The ultimate goal is to make conservation a way of life in California.
