Ways to reduce single-use plastic in the kitchen
When you’re looking to reduce the amount of plastic you use it can get overwhelming, so sometimes it’s easier to focus on one area. The kitchen is a great place to start because there are a lot of alternatives. First, ditch the plastic wrap. It’s not as hard as it sounds, I haven’t used it for years. Try reusable beeswax-coated fabric or store food in glass containers. Then move onto replacing your baggies. There are waxed fabric and silicone alternatives to choose from. Instead of bottled water, opt for a tap filtration system. And don’t forget to use your cloth bags when you’re bringing your groceries home to your kitchen.
