Oregon’s Greenest Footwear

There’s a shoe company in Oregon that you might not have heard about but they’re probably one of the state’s greenest footwear businesses. Softstar Shoes is owned by Tricia Salcido and they sell about 36,000 pairs of shoes a year, all made in their workshop in Philomath. The company sources leather from tanneries that don’t use formaldehyde, and they do sell vegan shoes. Softstar gives workers a small pay bump for carpooling with collegues, they’re powered from wind and solar energy, and they’re about to try out reusable packaging.
