Eighteen local environmental groups have put together Oregon’s Green New Deal and a few Portland area leaders are on board. Oregon’s Green New Deal includes a seven point proposal that would phase out fossil fuel infrastructure moving towards 100% renewable energy, it would prohibit burning trash, while removing dams and nuclear power plants. Oregon’s Green New Deal also proposes adding new regulations to limit transportation emissions, retrain workers, protect farms and forests from pesticides, and establish new institutions like a Green Bank.
