Metro makes recycling easier with Recycle or Not

Metro has a new tool to help residents of the Greater Portland Regional figure out what does and doesn’t go in the home recycling bin. Recycle Or Not focuses on some of the most common items that end up in recycling bins when they shouldn’t. For instance, to-go containers, disposable coffee cups and freezer boxes often end up in the home recycling bin but they belong in the garbage. The new website and Instagram page also shows you things that can go in your bin, like yogurt containers and plastic detergent bottles. The website is available in Spanish and recyclers can find out if an item is recyclable at home by submitting a photo.
