Oregon doctors prescribing a walk in the park
Next time you go to the doctor you might just get a prescription for a walk in the park. Twelve Oregon doctors are partnering with Park RX America, prescribing time in nature for various conditions. The non-profit was founded two years ago to advocate for nature therapy citing medical studies that say outdoor activity increases physical activity and decreases the risk of developing chronic disease. It appears that when a doctor writes a prescription for outdoor recreation, people take it more seriously. There are 75 physicians in the Pacific Northwest who are involved.
