Next time you’re at the Oregon Convention Center you can get a bit of exercise while you charge your phone. The pedal charging station is on loan from Green Microgym, a local company. The charging bike looks like a regular exercise bicycle but it’s an electricity-generating station that can charge your phone or tablet through a multipurpose USB adapter. All you have to do is plug in your device and 15 minutes of pedaling gives you the needed power boost. Most phones and tablets use 8 to 10 watts when charging but pedaling can create about 20 watts and the extra electricity helps power the building. The charging station is located in the Ginkoberry Concourse.
