Malaysia is sending plastic garbage back to countries of origin

When China closed its border to plastic recycling other countries started taking it in. But they often did so without the permission of their governments. Now those countries are taking action. Malaysia announced that it’ll be shipping out 450 metric tons of plastic waste to its countries of origins, including the United States. The unregulated recycling companies in Malaysia were operating without licenses and little oversight, often burning the garbage. With no country willing to take our plastic it’s time we work harder to stop using single use plastic.
