If you can’t fix it, you don’t own it
When things stop working in your house, what do you do? Do you automatically get rid of it or do you try to fix it? The people behind iFixIt have created a Repair Manifesto that we believe in at our house. The main idea is that if you can’t fix it, you don’t own it. The website connects people with repair videos for just about anything. When you repair an item, whether it’s a pair of pants or a washing machine, you’re saving money and the planet. Repairing is better than recycling because it makes our items last longer and reduces the need to mine for more raw materials. Next time you’re thinking of getting rid of something just because it stopped working or has a hole, consider mending, rewiring, gluing or patching it.
