EPA approves broad use of insecticide their department has labeled highly toxic

Over objections from environmental groups and beekeepers, the EPA approved new uses for a controversial insecticide last month. Sulfoxaflor is considered very highly toxic by the EPA but that didn’t stop the head of the department from broadening its use. This news comes after news that commercial honeybee colonies have been declining at an alarming rate. The annual loss rate for honeybees rose 40.7% last year. Sulfoxaflor is highly toxic to honeybees and environmental groups successfully sued the EPA during the Obama Administration. Let’s hope they’re successful this time around too.
