Dolly Parton Withdraws from Rock Hall Ballot

Dolly Parton has withdrawn her name from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot.

She writes on social media, “Even though I’m extremely flattered and grateful, I don’t feel that I’ve earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I respectfully bow out.”

She adds that she hopes to make a rock album and be reconsidered one day.

Dolly stands at fourth place in the Rock Hall’s Fan Vote.

The other females on this year’s ballot are Pat Benatar, Carly Simon, Dionne Warwick, Kate Bush and Annie Lennox as part of the Eurythmics.

Inductees will be announced in May and the induction ceremony will take place in the fall, most likely in New York City.
