British Open was first-ever plastic free tournament
Hats off to the Brits. The British Open last week was the first-ever plastic free tournament. The 148th annual Open and had no plastic bottles. Instead spectators brought their own water bottle and there were 24 filling stations across the course. They also gave away water bottles to the first 1,000 people through the gates each day. The players got an engraved water bottle to use. Concerts, festivals and other events are going plastic free, it’s well past time for sporting events to follow suit.
