Average American wastes a pound of food every day

Chew on this. The average American wastes nearly a pound of food every day. That’s about a third of the average American’s daily calories. What’s interesting is that people who eat the healthiest throw away the most food. But if you think about it, it’s not surprising. Someone eating healthy is likely eating more fruits and vegetables, which spoil more quickly that processed foods. But all of that waste is bad for the environment.
