Reduce holiday waste

In 2015, Oregonians generated more waste than in past years, about 7 pounds per person, a day. As we enter into a typically wasteful time of year, I’ve got some ideas to help you reduce your waste. An easy one is bringing reusable bags when you shop. I take these into non grocery stores all the time. Skip the tinsel. Tinsel, foil and glitter end up as waste and make it difficult to recycle your tree or paper. If you’re buying cards to send, chose ones without glitter and foil too so those can be recycled. Looking for decorations for your house? Second hand stores are filled with all sorts of holiday stuff right now.
