There may not be a bunch of big names this week, but still lots of reasons to head to your local record store ~ Jason Miller

Josh Ritter - Bringing in the Darlings: I personally think that Josh Ritter is one of the most talented current songwriters around.  This may only be an EP, but I'm sure it's still worth a few of your hard earned dollars.  It features the song "Why" as heard on the show Parenthood.

Damien Jurado - Maraqopa: First thing's first.  I don't think I can produce the title of this album.  A "Q" will always throw me off.  In other news, Damien is coming to the Bing Lounge on tomorrow (2/22).  Buying this will be good preparation.

Cursive - I am Gemini: Awesome indie rock from Omaha (which is somewhere in middle America).  I've been a fan of Cursive since they released "The Ugly Organ."  Expect very quirky rock, never boring.

Did watching the Grammy awards get you in the mood for some new music?  Here's what to pick up at your local record store this week ~Jason Miller

Amos Lee - As the Crow Flies: New Amos Lee!  Kind of!  This is a 6 song EP with tracks that, for one reason or another, didn't make it onto Mission Bell.  These kind of albums can be hit or miss in general.  Like deleted scenes of a movie.  Sometimes scenes are outstanding, but they get cut because they don't necessarily flow with the rest of the picture.  Sometimes scenes are cut because they just stink.  You be the judge... I've yet to hear it.

Punch Brothers - Who's Feeling Young Now?: My favorite modern bluegrass band, bar none.  Take that Steve Martin. To be completely honest, I've yet to be blown away by the Punch Brothers, but I've been waiting.  All the pieces are there.  Perhaps this is the album Chris Thile and company put them all together.

Winterpills - All My Lonely Goners: I've had my eye (or ear) on these guys for a long time.  It's acoustic flavored folk-rock, but the vibe is more Elliott Smith than Will Hoge.  The band is indie, so do them a favor and actually go buy an album.  They're releasing a vinyl version on Record Store Day in April.

Gone..Not Forgotten

LL Cool J struck the right note last night at the Grammys. (How difficult was that? To be the one to deliver those first sentences!). From there, many high notes and remembrances. A favorite? Dave Grohl accepting wins, in numbers only behind Adele! ~I
