Monday, February 8, 2010 - February is heart month and the American Heart Association is asking you to be aware of the warning signs of heart attack.
Heart Attack Warning Signs
Many people are familiar with the signs of chest discomfort, an uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the chest that last for more than a few minutes.
But other, less obvious signs can also signal a heart attack. Breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, vomiting or lightheadedness could mean you are in trouble.
Women in particular have symptoms that include feeling heaviness or pressure in the upper body areas such as the neck, back, shoulders and jaw. Some women feel extreme fatigue or a sense of doom up to months before having a heart attack.
Make an appointment to see your doctor if you are concerned about your system. And if you think you are having a heart attack, call 911 immediately. Minutes matter.
