PORTLAND LOSES RADIO ICON LES SARNOFF

(Portland, Oregon) . . . Les Sarnoff, KINK.FM’s iconic air personality, passed away Friday evening at Providence Cancer Center in Portland, Oregon after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.

“There is perhaps no single person more closely associated with any radio station than Les is with KINK,” said KINK.FM General Manager Dave McDonald.  “His professional contributions over his 30 year association with the station are inestimable.

His style, creativity and attitude personified a great radio station, perhaps the most significant thread through KINK’s history. He has meant so much to so many with his positive energy, generous spirit, community commitment and his warm and open presence.

"Portland and the KINK Community have lost a great one.”

KINK.FM Program Director Dennis Constantine added, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Rita and all of Les’ many family and friends today."

Reflections on Les

Rebecca Webb joined Dave and Sheila to share memories of her long partnership with Les.

Les. A cool character, even under the fire of an interview with none other than Sir Paul McCartney. Enjoy!

KGW's meteorologist and our KINK weather guy Matt Zaffino had a special bond with Les. And do we have stories.

Les's long-time on-air partners Mike Rich and Kevin Welch  remind us how much Les valued his friendship with the KINK Community. It was his extended family!

Sean Marten and Les sat down late last year to talk about The History of KINK.
