Did You Know?: In an anti-poverty protest, Franti decided not to wear his own shoes, initially for three days, and never went back. Except for occasionally wearing “crocs” on an airplane or in a restaurant, Franti has been walking through life barefoot since 2000.
After moderate success with early bands Beatnigs and Disposable Heroes, Michael Franti formed Spearhead in 1994. Over time, the band built a strong underground following with the reggae-infused sound and staunch political activism.
The band found their largest success from 2006’s Yell Fire! And the single “I Know I’m Not Alone”, a live performance lounge version of the track was included on KINK Live 10.
Now with the Follow-up All Rebel Rockers Spearhead isn’t slowing down their politically charged Reggae anytime soon.
