A Kinder, Gentler Approach to Hysterectomy
Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy or LSH is a minimally invasive approach to hysterectomy with relatively little pain that allows a woman to resume normal activities in one to two weeks. Historically, surgeons performed hysterectomies with large incisions across the abdomen. These large incisions are traumatic for the body, resulting in pain and a long six to eight week healing process.
As technology has transformed our personal lives, it has also revolutionized the surgical world, opening up new opportunity to replace large incisions with tiny ones. This is the basic concept of minimally invasive surgery and LSH. Tiny incisions minimize pain, cause much less trauma and allow for speedy recoveries. It is rapidly moving toward becoming the new gold standard for many surgical procedures.
Dr. Richard Rosenfield, Medical Director of Pearl Women’s Center, is an internationally known expert in minimally invasive surgeries for women. He regularly teaches his techniques throughout the US and abroad.
Not Your Mother's Menopause
Many women experience symptoms of hormone imbalance long before menopause. Common symptoms are fatigue, hot flashes, irritability, weight gain, mental fog and loss of sex drive. Unfortunately many women often suffer from these symptoms for years before they begin to search for answers. Some even worry their symptoms might be “all in their head.” They most definitely are not. Symptoms of hormone imbalance are very real. Women need to know this is not their mother's menopause. We have more options to choose from today and bio-identical hormones are providing an exciting, effective alternative for women to regain hormonal balance and get their lives back.

When Diet and Exercise Are Not Enough
More and more Americans are turning to liposuction to rid themselves of problem bulges that diet and exercise simply can’t eliminate. Does it really work? Absolutely. By the time we reach adulthood, we have all the fat cells we are going to have. Genetically, some people have a greater proportion of fat cells in certain areas. Saddle bags and love handles are good examples.
Liposuction is a very precise, very delicate sculpting technique that allows the surgeon to reshape the contour of a specific area of the body by changing the proportion of fat cells in that area. Because we are incapable of growing new fat cells the change is permanent.
Liposuction also has great benefit in correcting early signs of aging. Fullness in the neck is a common occurrence as we age. In a younger patient, the neck responds beautifully to liposuction, allowing the surgeon to redefine the angle of the jaw without going to a more sophisticated procedure like a facelift.
