help host a benefit evening.

The evening's silent auction will feature a Morton's "Chef's Table  for Six," a multi-course dinner for six that features cookbook recipes, wine pairings and a complimentary copy of the cookbook for  each guest.

Guests will also have the chance to bid on a 3-liter bottle of wine provided by Chateau St Michelle and an autographed DVD  of "Scream," signed by actors David Arquette and Courtney Cox,  leading advocates of Feeding America.

Klaus Fritsch to host book-signing reception for “Morton’s The Cookbook;”
event and silent auction to raise funds for Feeding America/Oregon Food Bank


WHAT:

Morton’s The Steakhouse co-founder and vice chairman Klaus Fritsch will be in Portland to host a book-signing reception for “Morton’s The Cookbook” this Wednesday.

Klaus’ Portland appearance is part of a nationwide cookbook tour to benefit Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity.

This fundraising reception, which costs $39 per person, will include the opportunity to bid for auction items, purchase a cookbook for Klaus’ signature, and enjoy Morton’s signature hors d’oeuvres, wine and cocktails.

Feeding America’s local food bank member is the Oregon Food Bank; $5 from each ticket is being contributed to Feeding America. One hundred percent of the silent auction proceeds will be donated to Feeding America.

The event will feature cookbook recipe samplings and beverages including:
Hors d’oeuvres:
• Smoked Salmon Wedges
• Petite Lamb Chops with Brie
• Sirloin Rolls
• Sliced Tenderloin Tips

Cocktails:

• “Sazerac,” featuring Pernod Ricard Absinthe, rye whiskey, simple syrup and Peychaud’s Bitters
• “Cool as a Cucumber,” featuring Absolut Vodka, St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur, Reed’s Ginger Beer, fresh lime juice and muddled cucumber

Wine pairings:

• Erath Pinot Noir
• Chateau Ste. Michelle, “Canoe Ridge,” Chardonnay

ABOUT “MORTON’S THE COOKBOOK”

Authored by Klaus Fritsch, co-founder of Morton’s steakhouses, with Morton’s Vice President of Wine & Spirits Tylor Field and Mary Goodbody, nationally known food writer and cookbook editor, “Morton’s The Cookbook” features over 100 recipes for Morton’s signature cocktails, steak specialties and other main dish favorites, appetizers, soups and salads, side dishes, and delicious and decadent desserts. Each recipe is sumptuously illustrated with full-color photography throughout.

As part of the launch for the new cookbook, Morton’s has partnered with Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity, and committed to raise a minimum of $75,000. Funds will be raised from book signings, auctions and contributions in select Morton’s restaurants over the next few months and donated to Feeding America and their local food bank partners.
