S&T Music Club: Best Concert Ever

Each time we meet, we pick a different theme.  

The Tune Yards is the brain child of Merrill Garbus.  The person who brought The Tune Yards last night explained that she went to see them at Mississippi Studios and was totally blown away by the live performance.  When performing live, there's lot's of vocal and instrument looping.  She plays ukulele and drums simultaneously while singing.  Her songs have an African flavor to them.  The club was warned that the next time she comes to Portland, we will all be kidnapped and brought to the show.  

Honestly, I'm sure there was a really nice story that went along with this music pick, but I was so caught up in the music I don't remember all that was said... just snippets.  I think the band is from Texas, and possibly has some sort of connection to Jason Lee (of My Name is Earl fame).  Our club also came to a consensus that there was a Fleetwood Mac influence.  I couldn't find a good live video, but here is one of the songs that was played last night.

Firstly, I am in love with The White Stripes, Black Keys eat your heart out.  I only got to see them live once before they broke up, but it was an incredible experience.  The show was in Seattle at a large, box like venue, so my expectations for sound were pretty low.  But that expectation, like all others of the evening, was surpassed.  Playing Live, Jack and Meg will sometimes play full songs, sometimes play the first 1/3 of a song and move on, sometimes spontaneously break into a 1930s blues song... you never know.  See the video above to understand.  Also, Jack and Meg I know you're reading this.  Please reunite.
