Album: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

Quick Review: I found myself accidentally referring to this album as Noel Gallagher's Flying Circus, instead of High Flying Birds.  Monty Python force of habit?  Probably. But, some of the songs on this album almost have a circus like feel to them. Take the song "The Death of You and Me."

It's a strange combination of The Doors' "People are Strange" and Echo and the Bunnymen's "The Killing Moon."  It definitely belongs under the big top.

You know what?  I'm done with the comparisons to other bands.  I'm sure Noel got that enough with his last band, Oasis.  He's reached a point in his career where it's time for people to start being compared to him, and listening to the current music scene those comparisons should be coming fast and furious.

More than a circus, the overall feel of the album is like a dream you would have if you passed out and landed on a fuzz pedal.  The songs are catchy, which is expected.  They are also complex.  Not overly complex, just complex enough.  It's like you're tapping your foot and suddenly there's a strange beat that forces you to tap a beat early for a stanza or two.  It keeps you on your toes.

Even Quicker Review:It's like the best part of every Oasis album.

Worth Buying: Seriously, this is worth a small investment.
