This Friday is 11-11/11This Is Spinal Tap, which chronicles the adventures and misfortunes (mostly involving exploding drummers) of the band Spinal Tap, will recall the exploits of lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel, who memorably had special amps made that go to 11.
In recognition of this music pioneer, a movement has emerged to declare this Friday to be Nigel Tufnel Day given its magical date of 11/11/11, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by a group calling itself "The Nigel Tufnel Day Appreciation Society and Quilting Bee in Favor of Declaring & Observing November 11, 2011 as Nigel Tufnel Day (in Recognition of Its "Maximum Elevenness.")
A Facebook group has also been created to further the movement, with almost 20,000 members on board at press time. We're in the 11th hour now, so throw your support behind making 11/11/11 Nigel Tufnel Day
