Willy Vlautin and Richmond Fontaine are at it again. A concept album this time. Stories weave through a misty somewhere,  in what may be a coast range town. Brooding, funny, romantic chaos ensues.

RICHMOND FONTAINE

The new album, The High Country, follows a few characters into a clearly dark place. Not that unusual for Willy, a singer, songwriter and novelist. He usually populates his work with people just like the ones we find on this new album.

We talked about the new album, ahead of the next leg of their European tour (the one that takes them to sunny Spain, but also a familiarly darker Sweden). Does an album like this need to be played front to back? Will there be a book attached to the album at some point (a graphic novel, says Willy). LISTEN TO OUR CONVERSATION, BELOW.
