Album: Josh Rouse and the Long Vacations
Quick Review: For a musician as well traveled as Josh Rouse, it only seems natural for him to have a backing band named “The Long Vacations.” In fact, I feel as though I’ve taken a long vacation just listening to this record, and I haven’t left my house in days!
Recorded in Spain, the album just feels light. And mellow, but with substance. There’s some funky time signatures in the percussion, and an array of string instruments that are used for coloring.
This may be my favorite Rouse release to date, which is saying something after listening to “Dressed up Like Nebraska.” The songs are all somewhat impressive (with “Lazy Days” as a definite stand out), but they really come together when listened to as a whole album. ~
Jason Miller Even Quicker Review: Feels like a trip to Spain, but much cheaper.
Favorite Songs: Lazy Days, Movin’ On, Oh, Look what the Sun Did!
