Wheelies, Halloween shopping, cuckoos nests, and other guilty pleasures for this final w-end of summer. Check out podcasts with Huey Lewis and Mariel Hemingway, below the 5.

1. Motorcycle Madness.
The best stunt riders in the world hit  Portland Friday and Saturday when the XDL Championship Finals swoop into town to close out the season. This will be the first-ever appearance of Motorcycle Madness in Portland, kicking off a fun-filled weekend of activities at Portland International Raceway including the Red Bull Dirty Dozen, XDL Finals and road racing. More HERE.

2. Remodeling and Design Fair. Join Neil Kelly and a full house of design experts, special guests, and great sponsors at their North Portland Design Center for a remodeling street fair!  Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Admission and parking are free. Special guest Mariel Hemingway will be on hand for two segments: 11:35 and 2:15 and talk about her passions: healthy living, healthy food,  finding balance in life. More info HERE.

3. Oregon Children’s Theatre Costume Sale. The Theatre is  cleaning out its costume shop in time for Halloween! Hundreds of adult and child costume pieces are up for sale with items starting at just $5! The sale will feature costumes from many of their shows, including vintage suits, dresses, skirts and shoes for men and women.
Sift through the racks of high-quality vintage designs. Enjoy complimentary beer, wine, snacks, cupcakes and whiskey pours—complete with live music at the opening party on Friday for a small entry fee. Enjoy the general sale for FREE on Saturday. More HERE.

4. Huey Lewis and the News at Maryhill Winery. Head for the Gorge Saturday for a show that will be part catchy hits, some covers and new songs, promises Huey. Homegrown musician Matt Brown will open the the show in one of the most breath taking settings around. Get details HERE.

5. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Party. Wrap up the w-end with a party! Fifty years ago this novel was published. Oregon is an inseparable component of this selection. So on the eve of what would have been Ken Kesey’s 77th Birthday, it's party time at Mississippi Studios Sunday, 7:30pm (doors at 7:00). Fun includes readings from the book, live music from 1939 Ensemble. There is going to be a trivia contest, with some fab prizes, including a free night in the new Kesey room at the Sylvia Beach Hotel. More HERE.

Two conversations for you. I caught up with Huey Lewis, calling in from the road (Kansas City!). Also a quick chat with Mariel Hemingway about her newest project. What a passionate woman!! Should be amazing at the Neil Kelly Street Fair.
