Whatever your musical tastes, there’s something in this year’s eclectic lineup will perk your curiosity and warm your soul. This year, Reel Music gets the party started early by presenting a film during Musicfest NW
(September 7-11), in partnership with Musicfest NW and Search Party.
OPENING NIGHT
DIRECTOR: MARTIN SCORSESE
US, 2011
Scorsese’s intimate new film takes viewers on the musical and
spiritual voyage that was George Harrison’s (1943-2001) life—much of it
told in Harrison’s own words. Tracing his life from his musical
beginnings in Liverpool through his experience as a musician, seeker,
philanthropist, and filmmaker, Scorsese weaves together rich new
material never seen before—interviews with Harrison and his closest
friends, performances, home movies, and photographs—resulting in a rare
glimpse into the mind and soul of an extraordinarily talented artist.
Among the many interviewed are Eric Clapton, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle,
George Martin, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Tom Petty, Phil Spector, Ringo
Starr, and Jackie Stewart. (220 mins. with short intermission)
