Portland is getting it’s Hood to Coast on again!

It’s the thirtieth year for this wacky, inspiring and challenging relay race. In this interview, Bob Foote talks about the thirty year anniversary of hood to Coast and how he and a friend of bored marathoners put the relay together as a way to entertain themselves. Now, twenty-four thousand runners come from across the globe to participate.

And this year, the most inspiring team goes to “Team Warfighter Sports” the only team of wounded military to participate in Hood to Coast, thanks to a sponsorship by Standard Insurance and Disabled Sports USA. These soldiers have experienced loss of limb, spinal cord injury, brain injury and other disabling inuries. Yet, armed  with the latest technology and the support of all Oregonians, these warriors will challenge more than 1200 other non disabled teams in the competition of their lifetimes.

I find it so inspiring that after years of serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan, these soldiers are now yearning for an opportunity to test their skills to the extreme, as they did in the military.
