Tim Robbins isn't surrounded by handlers or much security these days. The uber-talented Oscar winning director and actor is content with the relative anonymity of a folk-singer touring in support of his first album.

Robbins re-entered the world of music after his youngest entered college and his 20-year-marriage to Susan Sarandon fell apart. But music is familiar territory for Robbins, who grew up in the folk scene of Greenwich village and whose father, Gil Robbins was a member of the Highwaymen.

Robbin's collection of songs from "Tim Robbins and the Rouge Gallery" is best listened to closely. There are familiar themes in these songs; crushes, love lost, a soldier's search for himself after returning from war.

The storyteller may have changed stages, but his gift is intact.
