Could we Portlandians possibly be too quirky? Is civility dead? Is it the only answer when faced with an "apocalypse"? ~Inessa

Enter to win a copy of Etiquette for an Apocalypse. Email your name and address to us. We'll pick winners next week. And if you love the genre, check out another Portland author, Daniel Wilson. His newest book, and follow up to Robopocalypse is out. Like a copy of Amped? Email us and include the title in the subject line. More about the book, below.

ETIQUETTE FOR AN APOCALYPSE

Unexpected, funny, and yes, a  quirky story set in the near future of a Portland we still recognize, even through the lens of disaster. Anne Mendel offers a zeitgeist and novel look at the genre. Check out my conversation with Anne, below. Check out Anne's real-life survival guide tips HERE.

AMPED

AMPED is a sort of a follow up to his enormously successful and soon to be a Dreamworks picture, ROBOPOCALYPSE.. Daniel Wilson has crafted a near-future world inhabited by a segment of the population whose  health issues are helped by a tiny implanted device in their brain. Civil rights battles ensue. And dark issues threaten from which there may be no moral return. Geeky and  smart , AMPED has a sense to it that it might be an actual reality in the not too distant future.
