At the Record Store - 6/14

June 14, 2011, 11:56 am

Here are some reasons for you to stop by Music Millenium or Jackpot Records (or any other local record store) this week:

Marc Broussard - Self Titled: Marc is a KINK favorite, and the rhythm to his 2004 song "Home" is on of my go-to finger drumming songs.  A great voice paired with jazzy radio friendly musical arrangements.  Can't go wrong.

Blue Scholars - Cinemetropolis: Take some northwest pride that these Seattleites are making some of the best hip-hop in the country.  If this album is half as good as 2007s Bayani, it was stay in my car stereo long enough to push my Mitsubishi factory speakers to the limit.  VERY COOL NOTE: This album was produced completely independent of record companies and was paid for by fans.

Owl City - All Things Bright and Beautiful: The latest release from Owl City has mellow electronic hooks galore, although it still sounds like The Postal Service lite if you ask me.

Dawes - Nothing is Wrong: OK, this came out last week... but it's worth mentioning.  A light country tinge and some driving rhythms mixed with a few piano ballads.  Solid release, a little like the Avett Brothers.  Catch them in the Bing Lounge this Thursday (6/16)!
