As a Bonnaroo "virgin", I had no idea what exactly I was getting into. Sleeping on a tour bus with twelve people, without the benefit of indoor plumbing was a bit daunting. My idea of camping is “no room service”.
But despite the port-a-potties in the middle of the night, the experience was truly unforgettable. It really is like a modern day Woodstock, with incredible music around every corner and a generous and friendly vibe.
As I look back on the shows I saw, I realize that I tended to gravitate to the smaller stages. I did see Alabama Shakes (again) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But with those exceptions, the shows I went to were newer bands: The Lonely Forest, The Cave Singers, Michael Kiwanuka, Dawes, Flogging Molly, Ben Howard and Trixie Whitley. They were all brilliant- and PACKED with fans. Flogging Molly had fans moshing and stage diving- they kept security on their toes! Overall, an experience not to be missed.
Here’s to ‘Roo 2013. Maybe they’ll have a
Four Seasons by then.

Bonnaroo Recap: Beach Boys, Bon Iver and Phish Close Out Festival
It just wouldn't have been a complete hippie weekend experience without a little rain and mud to wade and dance through. Just as Skrillex's late-night rave was drawing to a close in the very early Sunday hours, the skies finally dropped a fresh shower of rain letting up just before and reappearing throughout the day's schedule of bands.
More HERE about the Bonaroo finale.
EVEN THE BEACH BOYS COULDN'T STOP THE RAIN.
