The new album Sunshine,  will surprise and delight. Yes, the mandolins and banjos are still there, but so are several unexpected sounds.

WILL WEST and the FRIENDLY STRANGERS

The new album Sunshine will get the release party Thursday June 14 at Mississippi Studios. Full band on board, with some surprise guests. More on the show HERE.

Will dropped by this afternoon for a chat about some of the new directions he is taking the sound, summer plans, and how to listen to music for deepest effect! LISTEN BELOW.

The Portland Mercury has a perfect description of Will West and The Friendly Strangers:
"..a formidable ensemble, boasting fiddles, banjos and mandolins, all guided by West's casual ringleading."

Now, at year's end, Will has already begun working up new material. And amped up the volume, used a full drum kit for the first time, in his recording process.

There are many cozy shows in the coming days of late December, including that White Eagle all-ages Thursday "happy hour" gig. Check out the schedule HERE.  That notebook on the right is Will's place for any idea that strikes. We should all carry one!

Will dropped by our studios on this late December afternoon. We talked about the special Portland vibe and creative space everyone has to work in. And what does year-end have to offer, and what will 2012 bring...And that FREE download Will mentions is available HERE.

As we head into December and the countdown towards the New Year, it's a fitting time to look back and reflect on the year in music.
A southern gothic supernatural musical from co-conspirators Stephen King, John Mellencamp and T Bone Burnett.
Australian rockers take a psychedelic journey with Tidal Wave video.
A new album, Somehow Divine, is most definitely ear candy flavored by Scott's really fine voice and songwriting.
A day job that provides for the night job. A musician's work is never done!
"Bucket Boys" has been dropped. But the inventive bluegrass/punk vibe is still there.
