Able to take on  many instruments and possesed with a remarkable whistling ability, Andrew Bird has developed a unique merging of classical and pop music over the course of his decade-long career.

Andrew has never been worried about cutting through and incorporating genres as he brings together traditional folk, swing, zydeco, rock, electronica and indie-pop into his work.

Over the past two years, folk and alternative music have undoubtedly stolen the spotlight. Whether it’s Mumford & Sons, Bon Iver, or even Arcade Fire (which shocked the music industry by taking the Grammy for Album of the Year back in 2011), you can’t doubt its popularity has increased.  The reemergence of artists who sing meaningful songs rather than pop songs has taken a toll on music lovers.

This is a good thing, because now we get to discover folk artists that have been around for quite some time. For example, take Andrew Bird, a whistling violinist who fuses his classical playing style with that of indie-pop — he performed “The Whistling Caruso,” a catchy, whistling opus from the hit 2011 movie The Muppets.
