KINK Announces “KINK at the Waterfront” concert on May 27th at the RoZone concert series with Alabama Shakes, Vintage Trouble and EVEREST.
6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Vintage Trouble
7:45 – 8:45 p.m. Imagine Dragons
9:15 – 10:45 p.m. Everest
101.9 KINK is teaming up with the Portland Rose Festival again for the 2012 RoZone concert series. The concert will take place at Tom McCall Waterfront Park on the OneMain Financial stage at 5:30pm on Sunday May 27, 2012.
TICKETS
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of show. Tickets available at all Ticketmaster locations. Ticket price also includes admission into the Rose Festival’s CityFair. This is an all ages show. Ages 2 and under admitted free of charge.
Alabama Shakes will be taking the stage first promptly at 5:30pm. RoZone Concert gates will open at 4:30pm. Will Call is located at Main Gate (SW Naito Parkway at Yamhill St.). Concert ticket includes gate admission to Rose Festival CityFair on day of show. General admission, some bench seating provided for use on a first-come first-served basis. Sand chairs, lawn chairs and camp chairs okay. Food/beverage concessions available, no outside food or drink allowed. Outdoor concert will take place rain or shine. No video cameras.

ALABAMA SHAKES
Rapidly becoming known for their hard-charging live attack and magnetic stage presence lead by vocalist, Brittany Howard. The Shakes have a sound that is genuinely exciting and unique. Howard said this about the Shakes style of music, "Retro soul is not what we’re going for, though it's understandable why people say it," says Howard. "We take inspiration from that, but we all understand Black Sabbath, too. On the record, we left a lot of room for whatever we want to do in the future." The band is receiving abnormal amounts of hype about their appearance at SXSW: “The early nominee for South by Southwest’s biggest buzz band is Alabama Shakes. I will just make the prediction now – Alabama Shakes will win the 2012 Grammy for Best New Artist.” San Jose Mercury News
VINTAGE TROUBLE
In a recent review of SXSW Vintage Trouble was voted the #4 favorite moment of Paste Magazine. “The only thing coming between Ty Taylor and the title of The Most Charismatic Frontman in Austin was that pesky visit to Texas by Bruce Springsteen. I’d wager that 90% of the audience had never heard of Vintage Trouble, but the Los Angeles band’s singer had them obeying his every command, as he channeled James Brown one minute and Otis Redding the next. None of us doubted we’d be seeing a lot more from Taylor and his band.”—Josh Jackson
IMAGINE DRAGONS
In a dark kitchen in the middle of a sweaty night in Las Vegas, all 6’4” of Dan Reynolds is hunched over a laptop, slapping beats on the table and crooning lyrics into a tiny microphone. Before long, he and the other three members of indie rock band Imagine Dragons would be playing “It’s Time,” that same laptop-demo-turned-supersized-anthem, from the roof of a parking garage to a wave of thousands.
EVEREST
Formed in Los Angeles in 2007, Everest is comprised of Russell Pollard (vocals, guitar, drums, lyricist), Jason Soda (guitar, keys, vocals), Joel Graves (guitar, keys, vocals), Elijah Thomson (bass, vocals) and Davey Latter (drums, percussion). With guitars that range from bright and chiming to tense and meandering, harmonies that are both delicate and pastoral, and Pollard’s gentle, hazy vocals, Everest is reminiscent of a bygone era, a time before the Internet, when albums were still an art form and stories were told on vinyl. But as it exudes timelessness, as it ebbs from rustic grooves into hushed lullabies, it also asserts itself as something very of the here and now – something that is more than the sum of its parts. – Everestband.com
