Acclaimed Violinist from Dave Matthews Band, Boyd Tinsley, Brings Film and Musical Performance to Portland.

NYC, NY  Feburary 3, 2013 – On  Wednesday, February 6, Portland is invited to an exclusive opportunity to enjoy a screening of the indie film, Faces in the Mirror.  Created by acclaimed Dave Matthews Band violinist, Boyd Tinsley, the film was made after its soundtrack, resulting in an extraordinary and emotional experience for moviegoers.  The screening will take place at 7pm on February 6, 2013 at Backspace, located at  115 NW 5th ave. Portland, OR.  Boyd Tinsley, accompanying the film, will follow the film with a live musical performance.  Tickets are free with a suggested donation for charity.

Created by famed musician, Boyd Tinsley, with production partner Filament Productions, the experimental film Faces in the Mirror reversed the typical order of film production.  Tinsley composed the score before the cast and crew were gathered, and the film never had a script.  The film advances the story primarily through music, acting, and stunning cinematography.  A one-of-a-kind film, Tinsley describes it as a “modern-day silent picture,” and, “it’s almost like the film is the score.”  Boyd Tinsley and his band mates from the Dave Matthews Band recorded the film’s soundtrack over a five-day period in Seattle.

After only a few screenings, the film has received rave reviews.  One critic at the Virginia Film Festival said, “Highlighted by an intoxicating musical score, unforgettable visuals, and visceral emotion, this is a film that is not meant to be merely seen, but experienced.”  Rolling Stone magazine describes it as “riveting” and Vibe considers it “outstanding.”

The film follows the story of a young man, Ben Fisher (Ryan Orr), who returns home to bury his estranged father.  On the day of his father’s funeral, Ben goes on a dream-like journey as he searches for forgiveness.  Lead actor, Ryan Orr, says, “This film is so strong... because it came from a very deep, emotional place.”
